Extension Rod

Extension rods are key components of drill stems and come in two shapes: round and hexagonal.

All extension rods feature threads and are made of hollow drill steel, commonly referred to as hollow rods.
This hollow space, known as a flushing hole, is used to deliver water or air during drilling.

The threaded ends connect to couplings, shanks, couplings, or bits.
Typically, both ends of an extension rod are male, but some have one male and one female end, called M/F rods.
For M/F rods, the female end eliminates the need for a coupling.

Standard thread types for extension rods include R32, R38, T38, T45, and T51, with rod lengths ranging from 600mm to 3700mm.
