Due to various applications, drill stem lengths differ, requiring coupling sleeves to connect extension rods.

There are two types of couplings: semi-bridge and full-bridge couplings. The only difference is that semi-bridge couplings have an intermediate stop in the middle.
Typically, both ends of the coupling have the same thread type, such as R32, T38, T45, or T51.

Occasionally, crossover couplings are required, such as one end with R32 and the other with R38. However, most couplings feature female threads on both ends.
